Abstract

A topical issue in social psychophysiology is establishing prognostic criteria of team effectiveness in various spheres of human activity. This study aims to identify patterns in the influence of partners’ personal performance on the integral result of sensorimotor cooperation in monogender dyads. A total of 256 subjects were examined in same-sex pairs (average age of 19 years, 7 months ± 3 months, 49% women). Sensorimotor activity was modelled based on the Columns training (Neurotech LLC, Taganrog, Russia). The study design covered individual, competitive and cooperative training contexts. The pairs’ integral cooperation result was considered as a dependent linear regression variable, while independent variables related to personal performances of the best and the worst dyad participants. The integral result and personal productivity of the best and the worst female participants in cooperation were significantly higher than those of men. The dyads’ integral results correlated positively with the participants’ personal performance and negatively with their intradyadic differences in all training contexts. Regression analysis showed that the integral result was more determined by the individual performance of the worst subject and the intradyadic difference in the competition. The identified patterns also revealed gender differences. The findings indicate the leading role of individual competence factors and differences in the participant performance when achieving team results as part of sensorimotor activity within dyads.
